IOWA CITY, IA (KPTM) – All the Huskers needed to do was win and win they did. It wasn't pretty, but with a 13-7 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes the Huskers are headed to Indianapolis to play for the Big Ten Championship.

The Huskers battled high winds all afternoon. But took the lead late in the third quarter with a Rex Burkhead touchdown. Burkhead returned to action in the second half for the first time since the Northwestern game. Burkhead had 16 carries for 69 yards and the touchdown.

The Huskers took the early lead with a Brett Maher field goal on the opening drive. The Hawkeyes responded with a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback James Vandenberg.

A Brett Maher 52-yard field goal with the wind at his back made it a 7-6 Hawkeye lead in the third quarter.

After the game Head Coach Bo Pelini said the game was hard because the Hawkeye's came to play.

"We're proud of our team, and we give Iowa a lot of credit.  They played hard. It was difficult. It was a game of field position. I thought we did a really good job, other than the first drive defensively, we played really good. We played physical. That's a physical team," he said.

The Huskers will take on the Wisconsin Badgers in a rematch on Saturday. The kickoff is set for 7 pm on Fox 42 News. The Huskers will attempt to win their first conference championship since 1999.
