Gray Resigns from OPS School Board

Posted: Updated:

OMAHA (KPTM)- Omaha School Board President Freddie Gray has resigned from the school board. She was just reelected in November and chosen as president two weeks ago.

Gray said she is taking a position with a new company, but still plans on being involved with education.

"I had one that just came my way from out of the blue and it's really a great opportunity for me.  And this one I'm not turning down," Gray said.

The district is still going through a leadership transition. Recently the district hired a new superintendent.

Wednesday night the school board accepted her resignation.

Vice President Marian Fey will take her place as president. No word on who  will fill her District 2 seat.

"When any decisions are made, they're made by the group.  They come through the committee, taken to the board and the board makes a decision as a whole.  And they need to learn to be able to work together as a whole in order to make any kind of progress," Gray said.
