OMAHA (KPTM)- When you look out your front door, there are some things you can expect to see-birds, grass, squirrels, etc.
Maria Trejo saw something a little, or a lot, unexpected early Thursday morning, after her son ran inside. "I'm not so scared about snakes, because I'm expecting to see snakes," said Trejo.
Trejo called the police, who then called animal control.
Sgt. Chad Reed pulled up to their house around 10 AM Thursday. "It was a little unique for us," said Reed.
Laying in the sun, just outside of Trejo's house, was a bearded dragon. "We didn't know what it was," said Trejo.
"Animal calls are typical, cats and dogs, but not usually lizards," said Reed. "I can't say I've ever had a bearded dragon in the street to deal with."
"It was big, I mean for me it was big," said Trejo.
Fortunately, for Trejo and Reed, the dragon is completely harmless, and fully grown at 10 inches, so it's not getting any bigger.
Trejo's son Cristian found the dragon, he said he wasn't scared. "I want to keep it."
The owner picked up the lizard at the Nebraska Humane Society Thursday night.
"I was so scared, I was yelling," laughed Trejo.
Friendly or not, Trejo said she hopes she doesn't see a bearded dragon on her front porch ever again.
