OMAHA (KPTM) – Omaha Police are investigating a shooting that ended with two teenagers being shot and killed.
Neighbors said a house party was going on early Sunday morning near 22nd and Saratoga streets.
Police responded to 2254 Saratoga Street at 1:23 a.m. regarding a ShotSpotter activation with multiple shots fired.
They found 18-year-old Brendon Ford and 17-year-old DMarco Pope injured from gunshot wounds near 2220 Saratoga St.
Omaha Fire Department pronounced one of the victims dead at the scene. The other victim was pronounced dead after being taken to Alegent Creighton Health Creighton University Medical Center.
Braxter Wilson told FOX 42's Leah Uko he was asleep when the sounds of gunshots woke him up.
"15 to 20 shots. I'm used to it," Wilson said. "It's always noisy back there. And I'm used to walking across the field every night at 3—4 o'clock in the morning."
Wilson said he didn't think the shooting was serious until police told him someone was dead.
The brother and friends of one of the victims said they told Pope and Ford not to go to the house party because 23rd and Saratoga streets is a dangerous area.
In a press conference Sunday morning, Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said early into the investigation it was found that the shooting is possibly gang-related.
