Ashley Ritchie - Anchor

Ashley Ritchie is thrilled to be reporting the news for the Midwest again!

Her passion for journalism began at an early age, when she started writing for her school newspaper back in junior high. She went on to become the editor-in-chief for her high school newspaper and the opinion editor for her college newspaper at Santa Clara University. Go Broncos!

In college, Ashley interned for KGET, the NBC affiliate in Bakersfield, Ca and KGO, the ABC affiliate in San Francisco.

After graduating from SCU with a Bachelor of Arts in European History, as well as Communications, Ashley began her career in broadcasting. She traded in sunny California summers for chilly Midwest winters and took a job reporting for KSPR, the ABC affiliate in Springfield, Missouri. During her 3 1/2 years there, she received the 2005 Spot News Story of the Year from the Missouri Broadcaster's Association for her coverage of the Greg Norman murder trial. That same year, she also won first place for her investigative story on DWI checkpoints in Springfield.

In November 2007, Ashley moved back closer to home and joined the KMPH news team as a general assignment reporter. She became the "Ten O'clock News" co-anchor in January 2013.

Ashley wrote her first children's book while on maternity leave after the birth of her first son in August 2011. "Mr. Pickles Paints the Town" was officially released nationwide in March 2013.

When not covering the news, you can find Ashley spending time with her husband and son, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of another son, due this October! She loves reading, cooking for her family, writing, being outside and dancing in the kitchen to Lionel Richie!
