OMAHA (KPTM) - To the tune of a classic beat, dozens gathered at Skinner Magnet School Sunday for an annual block party.

"Everybody's having fun," said attendee Lori Fears.

Fears was just one of many showing her support for a more peaceful and non-violent North Omaha.  The party coincidentally came just one day after the George Zimmerman verdict was announced in a Florida courtroom.

"I just thought it was a shame when I first heard about it," said Alonzo Guliford.

Saturday's decision is a controversial one for a big chunk of North Omaha.  Many people in the community believe Trayvon Martin didn't get the justice he deserved.

"He (Zimmerman) used a gun on an unarmed teenager that was walking down the street in a neighborhood where he should have been able to walk," said Guliford.

In addition to wrong, Guliford also believes what happened last year was illegal.

"Vigilante justice and no justice in the courts."

Right or wrong, Saturday's verdict is an outcome that will get a lot of buzz in Omaha and beyond for years to come.
