Accused Creighton Killer: Neighbors in Indiana Say They Were Worried

Posted: Updated:

OMAHA (KPTM) – Nicole Doti said she was worried the first time she ran into Anthony Garcia at her home in Terra Haute, Indiana. She said Garcia moved next door about a year ago.

Police say Garcia killed Dr. Brumback and his wife Mary in May of 2013. Dr. Brumback worked at the Creighton University Medical Center. Police also say he killed Thomas Hunter and Shirlee Sherman in 2008. Hunter's father also worked at CUMC.

Doti told Fox 42 News Garcia came over to her house with flowers one day.

"He stood very far back off the porch and was like creepily talking and saying you can come over anytime like an older man," he said.

Doti said she installed a security camera to protect her house after Garcia continued to stop by her house.

"We didn't think he would physically harm us I guess at the time," Doti said, "He was just awkward and creepy and he invited us over and we were nervous."

Garcia was arrested yesterday after a traffic stop. Garcia said the neighborhood feels safer.

"And now he is gone and it is the safest we have ever felt," he said.
