OMAHA (KPTM) – Omaha Public Works said Thursday that the water quality project construction crews are working on at Gene Leahy Mall will be finished in time for the "Festival of Lights" show this holiday season.
Director of the City of Omaha's Parks, Recreation and Public Property, Brooke Bench said it is in the contract that the construction is completed by Thanksgiving when the show starts; regardless of any anticipated weather.
This was good news for Bryan Murray, who was in the area with his 5-year-old daughter. The single father said he didn't mind bringing his daughter to the park, but wouldn't come to Gene Leahy Mall at night during the holidays if there were no lights up on display.
"If were to take, like a date here, it'd be sort of the whole ice skating, holidays, lights—the atmosphere. That's why I go," Murray said.
