OMAHA (KPTM)- He doesn't unsafely run through your desk at work. So should you put him and his crew in danger while he works at a construction zone?
"We've had a lot of near accidents, but my crews have not had any tragedies. We have seen people die on highways," said Victor Johnson, Owner, Surface 1 Construction.
"I'll never forget the day I saw a 5 year old girl die about fifteen years ago, they went through the barricades and she got caught in the wheels," said Johnson.
The reflections come after two people died in Washington County as a result of an accident at the base of a construction zone Wednesday morning on Highway 133.
Johnson says, if there is a silver lining in the tragedy, it would be getting the work out for drivers to be safer and smarter in construction zones. It could save a life.
