OMAHA (KPTM)- Two men were charged with burglary Friday after police said they broke into a home while a family was inside.

Police charged 18-year-old Ramiro Ramirez and 21-year-old Marlin Rivera with breaking into a home at the end of February. Three people were inside the house at the time, including a 22-year-old woman, an 8-year-old boy, and a 20-month old baby girl.

"They knocked first and no one opened the door. He tried to open the door and she didn't let him open the door. That's when they kicked in the door," said Javier Jimenez, the father of the 22-year-old and 8- year-old, and grandfather to the 20-month-old girl.

Jimenez said he rushed home from work and found his house surrounded by police.  He said he was told that there was "two robbers inside his house."

Jimenez said his daughter didn't answer the door when Rivera and Ramierez knocked. He said she saw them put on gloves and kick the door in, that's when she grabbed her younger brother and daughter and ran downstairs.

"They kicked in one of the doors and the lock broke and they went in through there," said Yolanda Jimenez.  Yolanda said her daughter hid in a closet for 10 minutes while on the phone with 911 dispatchers.

"They tried to open the door in the basement, the robbers, to go in there too," said Javier Jimenez.

Jimenez said the two men grabbed everything they could in the house, including a PS3, tablets, and his flat screen TV.

"They had the stuff in their hands," said Jimenez. "He opened the door and the police were waiting for him, those guys outside with a gun. He was sacred, police said he didn't say anything, was just scared."

Jimenez said since the burglary, he's upgraded his security system.  He said his daughter is doing better now that the two men are in jail.
