Dramatic Win for Iowa State in NCAA Tournament; Heading to Sweet Sixteen

Posted: Updated:

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KPTM) - Iowa State heads to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Basketball Tournament with a close win over North Carolina.

The win came with a last second driving basket by DeAndre Kane. With a little over a second to go, time ran out before North Carolina could call timeout.

There was controversy at that point with the game clock. North Carolina wanted about half a second left on the clock, but the operator started the clock more than a second after the ball was inbounded.

After reviewing the tape, the officials called the game over, giving the Cyclones the win.

Iowa State will now play number 7 seed Connecticut in the semi-finals later this week in New York City.
