HOUSTON, May 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hunting PLC announced that Rite of Spring by Dallas artist Winston Lee Mascarenhas is the winner of the $50,000 Hunting Art Prize for 2014.
The painting was selected from over 100 finalists in the 34th annual award program, which is sponsored by the global oil services company and is the most generous annual art prize in North America for painting and drawing.
The announcement came during an evening awards gala on Saturday, May 3, at the Friedkin Companies Campus, Gulf States Toyota, in Houston.
"Out of all the things I've accomplished in my career, winning the 2014 Hunting Art Prize is certainly among the top achievements," said Mascarenhas. "It's an honor to be selected from such a talented group of artists and a privilege to be the recipient of this prestigious and generous prize."
