The Stare down! Crawford Brings Historical Boxing Match To Omaha
OMAHA (KPTM)- World Boxing Organization Lightweight Champion Terrence Crawford felt at home. "He shouldn't have taken this fight," said Crawford at a well-attended press conference at The Century Link Center, the site of the only title-defense fight in history.
He will fight Cuba's Yuriorkis Gamboa, who held titles at the featherweight level. They were vacated when he moved up in weight class.
"Measure the caliber of fighters you fought against the caliber of fighters I fought and then you can talk," said Gamboa through his translator.
Crawford fired back with; "One thing, you ain't fought me yet."
If the press conference is any indication of how the title fight, scheduled for June 28, 2014, will go, there will be fireworks in the ring.
'It's the two best lightweight fighters in the world and they are going to be fighting it out in the ring here in Omaha, " said legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum.
Crawford, in an effort to focus on the fight with no distractions will bring his training camp to Colorado.
"It's going to be good to get away from distractions and focus on the fight and only on the fight," said Crawford.
Tickets for the fight go on sale Friday morning. Ringside seats will cost $100.00. There are $50.00 and $25.00 seats available.
