6-Year-Old Shot In The Face; SUV Seen Driving Away


UPDATE: Omaha Police say they are looking into a person of interest. They released a photo of an SUV that was seen driving away from the area.

Police are stepping up patrols in the area in an effort to curb any retaliation violence.

OMAHA (KPTM) – Police have identified a 6-year-old girl who was shot Thursday evening near 41st Street and Ida Street.

Taelor Fentress was taken to Alegent CUMC around 7:30 p.m. Her injuries are described as serious, but not life-threatening.

A family friend exclusively told FOX 42’s Leah Uko that Fentress was shot in the face while attending her birthday party. Omaha Police confirm that Thursday was Fentress’s birthday.

Police are looking for a black Jeep Grand Cherokee with a missing rear window and tinted windows. They are also looking for a white Blazer or Suburban with silver rims.

Neighbors told FOX 42 they saw a black Jeep Cherokee surround the area several times after the shooting occurred.
