Rugged Tablet PC, Part of Mobile Solution set to Boost Productivity for UKs Leading Retail Audit Company

NSF International delivers complete farm to fork food health and fire safety audits and consultancy services to the retail food industry, spanning pubs and restaurants, hotels, leisure buildings and supermarkets. Implemented by Motion partner Camtech Systems, the Motion R12 will help NSF improve customer service, enhance compliance and realise efficiencies throughout inspections in these settings.

Michelle Hardy-King, global retail operations director for NSF International retail food team explains: Our inspectors move from hot, steam-filled kitchens to chiller cabinets and are used to spills, bumps and huge amounts of time on the road. That means the technology has to be able to keep up.

NSF International has invested in the R12 tablet PC to deliver a complete mobile solution to its field staff. NSFs proprietary auditing software - iAudit combines scheduling and diary functions and is designed to be touchscreen capable, which necessitated a tablet PC that can withstand the demanding environments in which NSF operates.

In addition to durability, the R12 was chosen on the basis of many other factors. The screen size compared to the weight of the unit is vital. The IP54 rating protects against dust and liquid ingress and the battery life of 9 hours means inspectors can maximise the time on site. Built on Windows 7 to ensure staff are familiar with the application, iAudit exploits the integral camera of the R12, enabling inspectors to develop illustrated reports whilst on site. The two and four point harnesses enable the R12 to be easily carried and keep inspectors hands free for other tasks and because the unit can be sanitised, NSF can be confident it is not a vector of infection when inspecting premises.

Hardy-King continues: Even though the R12 gives us a laptop level of functionality, this implementation is not just about mapping features onto processes. iAudit and the R12 tablet PC have been so successful in improving our customer service in Europe, our North America Team has begun to adopt these tools. We can now deliver a full report to our customers within 15 minutes of the inspection and the R12 is a big part of fulfilling that promise. Time that was spent reporting can now be spent on the inspection and delivering consultancy to our customers, improving the service.

In addition, there is the expectation of members of the public and clients to be technologically advanced. We see this deployment as part of our drive to remain market leaders.
